Applewood Centre for Adult Learning

Lifelong Learning for People with Special Needs

June 2017

Applewood has been approved for federal funding under the Canada Summer Jobs initiative.  This allowed us to hire five summer staff from post-secondary related programs.

June 2017

Applewood was honoured to be the recipient of the Humber College School of Social & Community Services "2017 Agency of Distinction" award.  We thank Humber for the recognition and for the outstanding students who complete their practicum placements at our facility.

February 2017

Applewood is very grateful for the support of the City of Mississauga for yearly funding through their community grant program and to the Region of Peel for their ongoing contribution to our program through sustainability funding.

January 2017

Applewood was once again delighted to receive what has become an annual donation from The Mississauga Central Lions Club.

Who We Are

Applewood Centre for Adult Learning . . .
is a unique daytime destination in Mississauga for young men and women with special needs who are excited by their prospects to learn, grow and lead more active and meaningful lives.

The Applewood Centre for Adult Learning serves adults with a wide range of developmental disabilities.  A structured program of activities is planned around social develpment, fitness, life skills, art, music and recreation.  These activities foster independence, personal growth and social development.

Applewood is located within the Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Learning Centre. The Centre encompasses 4 classrooms, two personal care rooms and daily access to the gymnasium. The building is well-maintained and is easily accessible, providing a safe and familiar setting.

What We Do

Our programs are developed and delivered by an experienced, professional and caring staff consisting of teachers, DSWs, CSWs, PSWs and CYCs, all supported by an elected Board of Directors. Tuition fees are reasonable and arranged to cover operational costs.
