The people that help make our work possible.
Our Supporters
We are grateful to the incredible agencies and generous private donors whose support makes a world of a difference to Applewood. Their contributions are vital in helping Applewood provide essential services to young adults with special needs and their families.
The Ontario Trillium Foundation was a key partner in our start-up. From 2008 to 2012, the Peel District School Board provided rent-free classroom space, along with access to the gym and lunchroom. In September 2012, we moved to the St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Learning Centre through the Dufferin Peel Catholic District School Board.
Since 2013, we’ve received financial support from the Region of Peel Community Investment Grant Program, and from 2014, funding through the City of Mississauga Community Grant Program. This has enhanced our program, including the addition of the Multi-Sensory Music and Snoezelen Room in 2016.
Federal grants since 2015 have funded summer staff through the Canada Summer Jobs initiative, and in 2017, a Canada-Ontario Job Grant supported Safe Management training. We have also benefited from annual donations by the Mississauga Central Lions Club. The Region of Peel and the United Way Greater Toronto also funded a Capacity Building Framework.
We’ve hosted post-secondary students from Humber College, Sheridan College, George Brown, Seneca, Toronto Metropolitan University, University of Guelph-Humber, and the University of Windsor for their Field Placement Practicums. We have also been involved with the Apprenticeship Training in Ontario Program through the Ministry of Training, Colleges & Universities.
